How many types of vitiligo are there?
Nowadays, more and more people suffer from vitiligo, and there are many reasons for its onset. We should pay more attention to and understand vitiligo, and try to detect and treat it early. So what are the types of vitiligo? According to the shape, size, and location of white spots, we can classify them into the following types:
1. Localized type: It is often a single white spot or a cluster that is confined to a certain area, with different sizes.
2. Limb type: Refers to the four limbs of the human body, such as fingers, toes, etc., sometimes seen on the face and body.
3. Scattered type: Hashized distribution on the body, often symmetrically distributed, with white patches covering less than half of the body surface area.
4. Ubiquitous hair: White patches merge with each other, forming large areas distributed on the body surface, usually occupying most of the skin area, and even leaving only a few islands of normal skin.
5. Segmental type: One or several white patches distributed along a nerve innervated skin area, often on one side. Divided into complete leukoplakia and incomplete leukoplakia. Complete vitiligo is a solid color with no more pigment production, while incomplete vitiligo shows pigment spots and reduced pigment tissue.
Vitiligo is a condition caused by abnormal synthesis of melanin, leading to the loss of pigmentation on the surface of the skin and the formation of patches. The causes of the disease are multifaceted, the treatment is complex, and it is prone to recurrence. Therefore, timely treatment is crucial when discovering the condition.
